The Thirty Day Novel
Woo Hoo! In a move of unprecedented foolishness (not unusual for me, I know) I decided to be a part of the Nanowrimo challenge (that's National Novel Writing Month to the unenlightened among you). Here's the deal: 30 days to write 50,000 (that's Fifty Frigging Thousand) words: a short novel. It all takes place between November 1 and November 30.
As I was nodding off in bed, fingertips on keyboard, I finally got to the magic number: 50,000. Yes!
Okay, here is the disclaimer: the deal is you write 50,000 words. You don't have to have a finished, ready to send to Random House, novel. You just have to write 50,000 words.
So I have an as yet unfinished rough draft that's (as of right now) around 50,200 words. And a lovely, suitable for framing PDF that I printed out.
But, you know, that's still pretty cool. Stay tuned.
