A Whitehouse beer, part 2

Well, the great Whitehouse beer bash is over.

Obama, the "bartender-in-chief," had a Bud Light and Crowley, the arresting officer, had a Blue Moon.  Henry Gates initially asked for a Jamaica Red Stripe but switched to a Sam Adams. Joe Biden (designated driver) went with a non-alcoholic Buckler.

In a written statement, Obama thanked Gates and Crowley for "joining me at the White House this evening for a friendly, thoughtful conversation."

Predictably, Fox News criticized the president's choice of beer.

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

What the Fox-Tards neglect to mention is that "MillerCoors" is a joint venture between SABMiller and MolsonCoors -- if you parse those corporate names, you'll come up with South African Brewing/Miller and Molson (a Canadian company) Coors. To say that the Coors family OWNS that entity is not stretching the truth, it's lying, just as much as saying Budweiser is no longer an American beer because it's owned by Inbev.

The research department also failed to note that Blue Moon is owned and brewed (IN CANADA) by Coors -- I know they missed it because it seems that they would have been braying about it if they'd caught it, although they probably would have left out the part about it being brewed in Canada.

Jesus fucking Christ, haven't these morons got anything better to do? I wonder how Joe-Bob and Bubba down in Arkansas feel about Fox saying that their precious Bud Light isn't an American beer? I wonder how all those guys at the NASCAR races and in Missouri working at the (National Historic Landmark) Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis feel now that Fox has informed them that they're not making an American beer?

I suppose next they'll be calling on John and Cindy McCain to give up her share of (and step down as chairwoman of) the family's Budweiser distributorship, since they would NEVER have anything to do with a non-American beer, being good Republicans and all...

I tell ya, it's fucking hilarious to watch the wingnuts turn on each other and the whole party implode. I just hope something better comes out of it.

And this was by way of a media company owned by an Australian fascist.

It's a funny old world.
I love it, love it, love it. Can you imagine Gates' and the cop's disappiontment when they sat down and Biden was there? In his headwaiter's jacket?

I have a vague affection for Joe but he reminds me of everyone's idiot brother-in-law. Having him there at least gave them something they could all agree on.

Trivia for today (courtesy of Wikipedia): Buckler, Biden's choice of beers, is made by Heineken. In 1989 they stopped marketing the brand in the Netherlands, their home market, after Dutch comedian Youp van't Hek disparaged it for its wimpiness.
