April Fool's Day fun

Though my wife, the librarian, turns up her researchers nose at it, I love Wikipedia. Which is why I thought the following parody version of it of it was hilarious. Go to and check random facts -- someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make up all this nonesense.

Wait -- you mean this was meant to be serious?

Holy shit.

I typed in the word "Debt", my current anti-Republican hobbyhorse, and got this gem, quoted in full:

"Debt refers to an unpaid promise of payment. It is virtually impossible to go through life without incurring some debt. The trick is to try to minimize it.

Under the Old Testament, debts were to be released every seven years, except that debts to foreigners were excused from the release."

Protectionist bastards

And this one for the word "gay"

Gay life consists of immoral sexual activity, particularly homosexual or bisexual. The gay lifestyle, written about as early as the Victorian Era, is contrary to established morality, usually consisting of flagrant promiscuity.

As Tom Wolfe once said about another issue, "even their insults have liver spots".

One last comment. Here's the entry for marijuana. It shows signs of being hacked by Libertarians and then re-edited by people who learned about weed from watching 1957 civics videos.

Marijuana is drug that comes from the Cannabis plant. The main active ingredient in marijuana is THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, an organic chemical compound.

The effects of marijuana can include short-term memory loss, mild hallucinations, and an impairment of physical and mental functioning. Proponents of marijuana have claimed that it has medicinal benefits (see Medical marijuana) although other treatments can also deliver these benefits to various ailments without hallucinations and the impairments to judgment.

Hallucinations?????

A religious or sacramental use of marijuana is reported in various cultures such as those of the Rastafari movement or the Sadhus of India.

"Reported? It's been reported?"

Marijuana is a Schedule I Controlled Substance in the United States of America, meaning that it is an illegal substance under the law of the United States. In a few countries, particularly in Western Europe, the substance is legal, but in other countries it is subject to much harsher criminal penalties than in the United States.

Some have advocated for decriminalization. [1]. Many people of varying political alignment advocate its legalization. [2]

Many American conservatives, especially social conservatives, oppose legalization of marijuana in any form due to its harmful medical and emotional effects and its likelihood of harm to third parties due to drug-related crime and reckless driving. A few libertarian-leaning conservatives, most notably William F. Buckley and Larry Elder, have advocated the decriminalization of this drug. Some liberals support legalization, but most instead advocate for drug treatment and rehabilitation. Libertarians are usually the biggest supporters of marijuana legalization.

We wouldn't want to do anything to cause an increase in drug-related crime, now would we?

Good God in heaven

Oh what fun I've had with this Dr. Ralph. They really think that having this out there is going to make them more appealing? Maybe I'll do a blog on the Conservapedia "fact" of the day.

A liberal is someone who rejects logical and biblical standards, often for self-centered reasons. There are no coherent liberal standards; often a liberal is merely someone who craves attention, and who uses many words to say nothing.

Bigotry is the expression of hatred or aggression towards those who are different. Examples of bigotry include racism and religious intolerance.

Bigotry is a common among atheists, elitists, liberals, Muslims and homosexuals towards critics of their ideologies. Some liberals deceitfully claim to uphold equality of all viewpoints and free speech, but are in fact routinely prejudiced against opposing viewpoints. They are particularly bigoted against Christians (and indeed faith in general) and Family Values. It is typical to see liberals refer to their opponents as racists, fascists, Nazis, rednecks, fanatics, or any number of more profane slurs.

Examples
The infamous Hamilton Square Baptist Church Riot, in which gays maliciously attacked a church.
Liberal and Pro-Abortion attacks on Pregnancy Centers [1]
Students threaten and verbally abuse a student wearing a McCain T-Shirt [2]
Gay rights supporters protested outside of Los Angeles' largest Mormon temple because members of the Mormon church gave millions of dollars to the campaigning for Proposition 8, which banned homosexual marriage in California.
